Inspired by: Teacher
i asked her what advice she could give us after 28 years of teaching, working for the UN around the world, setting up peacekeeping operations in some of the most difficult places in the world… what would she want to pass on to us as we move forward and leave her class?

"dance the dance," she said.
"you are a small part in a big world shifting all around you.
pay attention to the way it moves, watch it carefully as it changes.
but if it invites you to join in, dance with it."

when i was 20, i made an intentional decision to live life without regret. i didn’t want to regret doing something but more importantly, i didn’t want to regret not doing something. i often forget that decision. sometimes now, when i look, i am overwhelmed at all the new information i’ve learned, the bills i have to pay and the responsibility to others that i have, i want to cower in the corner. i want to run away and let it all move on without me.

but to dance the dance means that i have to get up and move… even if i do not know the steps… even if i’ve never heard the music. the dance of life is a choreography of the unknown pieces in a slowly unfolding story which is inviting us to participate.
