Everyone seems elated,
with the current gas price-decreasing slated.
They have found happiness,
in cheaper receipts; collecting dimes abated.

Unfortunately, I think I've found,
the source; an end and means; a plot compound.
I've glimpsed the short-sighted,
and now find myself with possible insight abound.

What if we, in all our joy,
have simply fallen in, to a dark government ploy?
With a few minor subsidized allocations,
They've appeased our fears and put us in their employ.

Chrysler and General are sinking,
With dollars tight, America needs to turn populace thinking.
A couple quick cuts and funds injected,
The Big Three've got us back, without our even blinking.

Once more, return to shopping.
Instead of economy, seek luxury… without stopping!
No need to hold back and pull purse strings.
Indulge. Why not? "Gas prices are dropping!"
