Inspired by: Playing
This is Nit, one of the children who lived in the slum community I stayed with in Khon Kaen, Thailand. Shy at first, she was a ball of energy once she opened up.
I remember every afternoon when I'd go to play with the kids, I could here little Nit yelling, "Pee Sa, Pee Sa." Pee means older sibling and my Thai name is Alisa, but Nit would just shorten it to Sa. I'd pick her up and we'd go play card games that made no sense because she was too young to understand the rules.
In this picture, she's wearing a necklace that some of the kids found in the trash. Very few of the kids had "real" toys, but it didn't really seem to matter to them. Their wild imaginations would make anything fun.
Spending my days with those kids made me feel like I was 8 year old again.
